BACK ISSUES EDITORIAL Sorry about the delay in getting this issue out - I normally try to do at least one per week. Last weekend I attended a 3 day model railway exhibition, and the week before was spent finishing the layout for it !!! If you have not seen my Japanese tram layout 'Setagaya', please have a look at the layout's web page. If you have any comments about this service, and would like to make suggestions as to what you do or do not want to see included, please free free to let us know. If you are paying for something, we would like to know that you are 100% happy with what you are getting, and that it is fulfilling your needs. Normal rate is US$2.50 per month, payable 12 months at a time in advance. The 12 month subscription period will be from June to May inclusive. We hope to supply at least one issue per week, more if there is more news. We believe this amount is good value, and very modest for the amount of information you will receive - it represents (per month) less than 1 coffee at a 'trendy' cafe (eg Starbucks), or a burger & fries at a family restaurant (eg McDonalds). 17th June 2004 DDF have announced the release in late June of another in their range of Mitsubishi Fuso Airport limousine buses, this time as used by Tokyu. Kato 25-012 Unitrack layout Plan Book This is a 'new' re-release of this popular book, and has a selection of all-new plans. The track plan, a suggested scenery mockup, as well as list of components required, and their cost, is provided for each entry. Interestingly, the new Diotown city buildings feature in many of the plans. Unfortunately, the amount of prototype sample photos has become almost non-existant. There are 53 plans, ranging in size from 1500x900mm to 3490x1940mm. Railfan Magazine 07/2004 This is the month for the annual JR rolling stock data file issue, which covers the rosters of all 7 JR companies and shows all current items and where they 'live', as well as the changes from the previous year's list. Photos also show many of the new trains put in service over the last 12 month. The new Fukuoka Subway trains are also featured, as well as a comprehensive status of the JR East 205 'Project'. if you only buy one Japanese train magazine a year, this is the most useful one to have in your library. Hogarakadou C-4103 30ft UF47A container 'Kyushu Milk'
The latest release from Hogarakadou is this 30ft refrigerated container. It is white overall with yellow and light blue stripes, and black lettering. Markings on the container pockets are yellow or red. The end door handles are yellow. The 'Thermo King' fridge unit on the end has a number of details printed on it. The fine lettering is completely readable, right down to the dimensional data. The set comes with 3 containers, each with a different number. Platz NC14-A 20ft UF25A container Miyago 'Cool Express'
The latest release from Platz is this 20ft refrigerated container. It is white overall with light blue and brown logos and red, blue and black lettering. There is also an Eskimo man with green shoes and hair and a gray coat !!! The end of the container has the fridge unit printed on. The set comes with two containers, each with a different number, and there are two different sets. For those readers not familiar with these company's products, the Hogarakadou is injection molded plastic, with the 'pad' printing. The Platz containers are a fairly solid cast material, with lettering done by a full side decal. They are both more expensive than those that Tomix offer, but give a lot more variety, particularly for the modern era modeler.
