BACK ISSUES EDITORIAL Recent rumours that MicroAce were ceasing production in N scale have been proved to be unfounded, by the announcement of their release list for April 2005. It just goes to show how much you can trust information from some charlatans that are supposed to be distributors of Japanese model trains !!! If you have any comments about this service, and would like to make suggestions as to what you do or do not want to see included, please free free to let us know. If you are paying for something, we would like to know that you are 100% happy with what you are getting, and that it is fulfilling your needs. Please write to this address with any comments you may have. This newsletter is available by subscription, unless you are a recent customer of 'Japanese Model Supplies'. Normal rate is US$2.50 per month, payable 12 months at a time in advance. The 12 month subscription period will be from June to May inclusive. We hope to supply at least one issue per week, more if there is more news. We believe this amount is good value, and very modest for the amount of information you will receive - it represents (per month) less than 1 coffee at a 'trendy' cafe (eg Starbucks), or a burger & fries at a family restaurant (eg McDonalds). MicroAce announced their proposed releases for April 2005 ... A8602 Sotetsu New 6000 series EC 8 car set (cream with orange stripe) 13th November 2004 The Tomix version of the 800 series TEC was released today. Kato have shown samples of the items in the new Diotown accessory series.

This issue has many interesting articles inside. There is a summary of all the green and Panorama type cars that are available as models, a comparison the Kato & Tomix EF81 models, details of all the new Tomix colour light signals, configurations of all the 103 series EC sets, and the main article is the details of all the different 205 series EC sets, and the models available. Also there is a comparison between the prototype and Kato & Tomix models of the 211 EC sets, as well as many model and diorama building articles. Tomix 92935 800 series TEC 6 car set 'Tsubame' (JR Kyushu)
This is a very welcome release, being the latest JR Shinkansen prototype, in Kyushu of March this year. This sets is a limited edition release, and as such comes in a white hard plastic case, with the cardboard sleeve having JR Kyushu and 'Tsubame' logos all over it. The cars are white with red & gold stripes a dark red roof. The roof of the cab area is black. As per JR Kyushu, there is a myriad of lettering & logos all over the train, and all of these have been precisely printed by Tomix - some are so fine that you cannot read them without a hi-power magnifying glass !!! The interior of the cars is coloured appropriately and the seating part is removable, so you can turn it to face the direction of travel. The single arm pantograph is very delicate - also coloured dark red. There are no extra parts to add to this model. The new TS couplers are interesting, and consist of a circular type latch that has a hook on one side and a lug on the other. They just push together or pull apart by gentle pressure. The power car is very smooth and quite, and the drive on this model included flywheels. The wheel sets are not blackened though. The head/tail lights are quite bright at low voltages, especially the thin horizontal red tail lights. The headlights are an array of 3 white LEDs. Certainly a good choice if you like Bullet train models, but only have a small layout.

92935 800 series TEC 6 car set 'Tsubame' (JR Kyushu) This month's Model of the Month is the Tomix version of the newest Japanese bullet train - the Kyushu 800 series, that started running in March this year. This release is a Limited Edition full 6 car set, with special inclusions. Once sold out, this set will NOT be available again. Special price for this month will be A$265.00.
