BACK ISSUES EDITORIAL Everyone is back from holidays, and we are now getting lots of new release news again :-) If you have any comments about this service, and would like to make suggestions as to what you do or do not want to see included, please free free to let us know. This newsletter is available by subscription, unless you are a recent customer of 'Japanese Model Supplies'. Normal rate is US$1.00 per month, payable 12 months at a time in advance. The 12 month subscription period will be from June to May inclusive. We hope to supply at least one issue per week, more if there is more news. We believe this amount is good value, and very modest for the amount of information you will receive - it represents (per month) a lot less than just 1 coffee at a 'trendy' cafe (eg Starbucks), or a burger & fries at a family restaurant (eg McDonalds). 13th January 2005 MicroAce announced their tentative releases for June 2005. A5110 Osaka City 20 series EC 21 type 6 car set (Midousuji line - Silver with red stripes) - ¥18,800
These unusual looking Osaka subway line sets are 3rd rail types. A0031 715 series EC 4+4 car set (Kyushu colour - White with blue stripe) - ¥21,000 These can been seen in the MicroAce poster here. Bandai re-released the 'Working vehicles' #1 truck set, and the 'Yonchome' #4 building set. 12th January 2005 Kato re-released the 10-051 Hankyu 6300 4 car addon set. 11th December 2005 Modemo announced 2 more items in their quest to allow me to completely model the full Enoshima Railway fleet !!! There is a little confusion about exactly which 300 cars are being done here, as there are 3 different types !!! Some were converted from old 100 type cars, and others were acquired from the Keio Railway. 21st December 2004 Tomy 'officially' announced the release of 'The Car Collection' #2 (see this page), and 'Machinami Collection' #3 (see this picture), both for release in March 2005, as well as a special 5 vehicle modern Tokyo city bus set (see this page). 2005 Greenmax Catalog #14
After nearly 3 years, Greenmax have released a new
catalog. They have not really done much in nearly 2 years, except concentrate on their RTR range, so there is not a lot more in this catalog, even with 264 over
the previous 230 pages. So there is also not a lot different this time, except for the pages showing all the new RTR stuff (including the planned Kintetsu ACE), and some pre-painted kits that came out since 2003. There has
definitely no non-painted kits or structures for a long time :-( All the same diorama photos are there, and even the
modeling hint sections are the same. Kato 10-227 M250 Super Rail Cargo 8 car set (see photo in MOTM section) As one of the more unusual prototype trains to be introduced in Japan recently, it was inevitable that a model would come out sooner rather than later. The full train is 16 cars, but if you have a small layout, the 8 car basic set would be sufficient. The two-tone blue (which are actually separate parts) of these units is quite attractive, along with the logos etc on the cabs. The rest of the cars are a light gray. There are a lot of extra parts to fit to the cab roof area. The containers are removable, but the train is not usually run empty. The motor is under the first car's container, and the shaft (and flywheels) between it and the cab/control box is hidden quite well. The motor is smooth and quiet, but it would not be advisable to push a full 16 car train 'backwards' !!! The head/tail lights do not come on very brightly until quite a high voltage, and wheels are not blackened. If you are modeling modern era, this model will certainly get a lot of attention !!!

10-227 M250 Super Rail Cargo 8 car set This is a model of the EMU-based express freight service started in 2004 for the Sagawa Transport Company, that runs on the Tokaido line between Tokyo & Osaka. 2 units at each end are powered, and can hold 1x 30' container, whilst the middle 12 'normal' container wagons can hold 2x 30' containers. Special price for this month for a full 1 6 car set will be A$499.00. The normal retail would be A$590.00 and the MSRP is A$675.00. Stocks of these monthly specials will be limited, and will be sold on a 'first paid - first allocated' basis.
