BACK ISSUES EDITORIAL Japanese Model Supplies have been a little slack keeping their web page up to date. This has now been rectified - all the pages have everything up to the latest releases listed, and there have been many more graphics added. Also the downloadable price list have been updated. If you have any comments about this service, and would like to make suggestions as to what you do or do not want to see included, please free free to let us know. If you are paying for something, we would like to know that you are 100% happy with what you are getting, and that it is fulfilling your needs. Please write to the Japanese Model Train News Yahoo! discussion group with any comments you may have. This newsletter is available by subscription, unless you are a recent customer of 'Japanese Model Supplies'. Normal rate is US$1.00 per month, payable 12 months at a time in advance. The 12 month subscription period will be from June to May inclusive. We hope to supply at least one issue per week, more if there is more news. We believe this amount is good value, and very modest for the amount of information you will receive - it represents (per month) a lot less than just 1 coffee at a 'trendy' cafe (eg Starbucks), or a burger & fries at a family restaurant (eg McDonalds). 26th January 2005 Tomix have produced their latest poster of 2005 release news, and the surprise new item is the Odakyu 50000 VSE train (see picture on cover of magazine review). The poster can be seen here. And for Thomas the Tank Engine fans, here is the latest picture of the Percy loco and mailvan.
Kato announced the release of the 10 series passenger car as the 3rd February. Details of the new Yamanote line 205 sets have been released, and it looks like they will come with the new body mount coupler system. There have been a lot of changes to release dates, including some of the Diotown accessory sets being delayed until March :-( See the Release Information page for details. 22nd January 2005 Tomix announced that "The Bus Collection" #5 set would be released on the 28th January. To be released on the 29th January are the Shinano Railway 169 sets, and the Tokaido line E231 sets will be out on the 2nd February. MicroAce announced their releases for February 2005, as follows ... A8190 DF40-1 DL 21st January 2005 Modemo announced the releases of a "Sayonara Meitetsu" version of the read & white Mo510 tram series, and the confusion regarding the different version of the Enoshima 300 series cars was cleared up (see below) ... Bandai announced their 3rd series in the "Working Vehicle" range - a set of small 4t delivery vans - these are due for release in March. There are two types of truck - the Isuzu Forward Cargo & the Hino Ranger-Pro Cargo. These unusual looking Osaka subway line sets are 3rd rail types. A0031 715 series EC 4+4 car set (Kyushu colour - White with blue stripe) - ¥21,000 These can been seen in the MicroAce poster here. Bandai re-released the 'Working vehicles' #1 truck set, and the 'Yonchome' #4 building set. 12th January 2005 Kato re-released the 10-051 Hankyu 6300 4 car addon set. 11th December 2005 Modemo announced 2 more items in their quest to allow me to completely model the full Enoshima Railway fleet !!! There is a little confusion about exactly which 300 cars are being done here, as there are 3 different types !!! Some were converted from old 100 type cars, and others were acquired from the Keio Railway.

Bandai have released the 2nd series of "Working Vehicles" - tank trucks.
MicroAce have released their "MicroAce Times" #9 magazine. 20th January 2004 Kato have released the 8044 Chiki5000 and 8045 Chiki5500 FC 2 car sets, as well as the re-release of the 2001-1 C50 series SL. 14th January 2005 MicroAce released their January items ... The main feature of this issue is the JR 201 series EC sets, mainly used on the Chuo & Sobu lines in Tokyo, and also around the Kansai area. Also feature is the "Shikisai " 201 set. Full details on all the sets and their characteristics, locations etc are provided. Another interesting article is on the M250 "Super Rail Cargo" train, and this shows exactly where it goes and on which lines (with maps) is uses to get there. It is surprising when this DVD starts, as you see an aeroplane flying, and you think maybe it is a plane DVD not a train one, but the scene then pans down to the Tokyo waterfront, then Rainbow Bridge, and then Odiaba with Tokyo Big Sight in the background. Then you see some Yamanote line trains at Shinjuku and some other footage of the elevated Saikyo line, and the Rinkai line (Tokyo Waterfront Railway) with Tokyo's massive port facilities in the background.. The main menu has 5 options ...
Since the Rinkai line was extended to Osaki on the Yamanote line, Saikyo line trains now continue all the way to Shin-Kiba, where you can change to the Keiyo line. Rinkai line trains now can also be seen on the Saikyo and Yamanote freight lines. I was surprised to see that after Nisshin, the Kawagoe line is single track !!! In summary, an interesting look at a service that uses many areas of the Tokyo suburban rail network, and lets you see lots of other trains as well.

10-227 M250 Super Rail Cargo 8 car set This is a model of the EMU-based express freight service started in 2004 for the Sagawa Transport Company, that runs on the Tokaido line between Tokyo & Osaka. 2 units at each end are powered, and can hold 1x 30' container, whilst the middle 12 'normal' container wagons can hold 2x 30' containers. Special price for this month for a full 1 6 car set will be A$499.00. The normal retail would be A$590.00 and the MSRP is A$675.00.
