Nine Scale World #26
As the only exclusively 'N' scale Japanese model train
magazine, once again this issue is full of goodies !!! There is an
article on 'resort' trains; a comparison between the Kato and Tomix 'bonnet'
485 sets, and between the Kato Chuo line 201 and the prototype;
building a brass Toden 8000 tram and a number of mini-layouts; shop
review and directories and of course all the reviews and preview of new
releases. The feature article is the EF58 series EL, with all the types
and colour variations described in details.
Tomix 2161 EF510-1 EL
The EF510 is one of JR Freight's latest loco types. As
MicroAce have already done, and Kato plan in the future, Tomix have
released two versions - the first prototype which did not have the 'Red
Thunder' logo, and the version representing the following models. Other
than this, and the size of the 'JRF' logo, the two are virtually the
same. The body is a nice bright red with a white and grey stripe along
the bottom, and the roof and it's apparatus is silver. There is a gray
panel around the windows on the side, and a white panel around the
headlights on the front. A variety of numbers are available for you to
choose from , and like all recent releases, there are fiddly little
grab handles to add to the front. TN couplers are included to swap with
the standard Rapidos. The motor (which does not have a flywheel) runs
smoothly and quietly, the reversing headlights are yellow, the wheels
are silver. A nice addition to your fleet if you like to run modern Japanese
freight trains. 27th Janaury 2006 Tomix re-released the 115-1000 series EC range, and the E2 series TEC 'Hayate' 3 car set. 24th Janaury 2006 Greenmax re-released the Tokyu 8090(8590) and 8500 series EC body kit sets, and the Kintetsu 1252/1426/6442 and 1026/1620/6620 series EC painted kits. Kato released the 183-1000 EC sets, the Wamu480000 wagon set and the Koki200 container flat. 22nd January 2006 Tomix re-released the 115 series EC Chuo line set and the E231-1000 2 car Green car set. 19th January 2006 Tomix finally released the 3075 Trackside
Accessory set #1. It contains such items as ATS sign, Speed limit sign,
Stopping place sign, Whistle sign, Distance sign, Railroad crossing photocell,
Inclination sign. 13th January 2006 Modemo released their first non-tram or passenger car set - the NP501 Odakyu RSE20000 'Asagiri' set. There will be a review of this set in the next Newsletter.

(ADVERTISING) This information service is sponsored by ... Japanese Model Supplies o New and second-hand Japanese trains As mentioned above, this service is sponsored by 'Japanese Model Supplies', the only Japanese-only model train and other hobby item supplier in the world, outside of Japan. Other suppliers have recently been broadening their ranges, and supply other things like computer games, and Chinese & European trains - 'Japanese Model Supplies' will always stay with Japanese-only products. It is often difficult to source these type of items and get accurate and timely information in English, when you do not live in Japan, cannot read Japanese web pages or do not have any contacts there. We have the facilities to access this information and these products, and whilst based in Australia, currently supply customers all over the world, including Australia, New Zealand, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Israel, South Africa, Canada and the USA. Therefore you will find that the items you see presented are not just 'fantasy' items that get released in Japan and you have no way of acquiring them - 'Japanese Model Supplies' CAN get these items, and CAN ship them to anywhere in the world (unlike some other retailers of Japanese model trains, who refuse to ship to the USA etc) !!! See their web page at the address listed above for all the information on what has been
produced and how to get it. If you are in Japan, and visit the Osaka area, I recommend you
take the time to visit "Railcraft Awaza". They have a large range of products
available, together with friendly advice and service (but only in Japanese). Some photos
on this site are taken by them and appear with their permission. For details of
their shop location, see their web page at ... http://www.rc-awaza.com |
